About this watch

An attractive and well-preserved Recta wristwatch from the 1940s, housed in a stainless steel waterproof screw-back case by François Borgel (FB), measuring approximately 30 mm in diameter. This distinctive case construction is closely related to that found on the Patek Philippe reference 437.

The elegant silver-toned dial features beautifully aged Arabic numerals, a subsidiary seconds register at 6 o’clock and original radium-filled hands. The dial is unsigned, while the hand-wound movement is signed Recta, giving this example a particularly understated appearance.

The watch remains in very good vintage condition, with a charming original dial showing light, even signs of ageing. A lovely example of 1940s Swiss watchmaking, combining classic proportions with the highly regarded Borgel waterproof case construction.
